Throughout April, I really wanted to share the stories and experiences of other amazing people who raise awareness and have lived experience of autism. Today it is Vicky!

Hi, my name is Vicky. I am 30 years old, I have a brother who has autism and cerebral palsy. He is verbal but still struggling with communication. He struggles to get across what he is trying to say sometimes and as a result gets frustrated. I have helped my mother care for him as long as I can remember. Growing up my mum was a single mum, our father wasn't in our lives from when I turned 18 and so I naturally took over the role of carer. I would help my mum with more of the care things like helping my brother with running his baths and helping him make his meals. I also (pre-covid) take them on day trips to give my mum a well earned break. I enjoy helping my brother and wouldn't change him for the world.

Thank you so much to Vicky for sharing her experience of autism! Please follow her on Instagram @vickyadhdvlogpage!

If you would be interested in having your story shared on my blog then please get in touch.
